We are seeking a Ceramics Apprentice: a budding craftsman with a steady hand and a deep reverence for the medium. This is a path toward mastery. You will work alongside experienced makers to learn the nuances of form assembly, finishing, and production. This role begins with a 2-Month Probationary Intensive focused on skill assessment, with the intent to transition into a permanent role.
Production & Hand-Building: Shadow closely with artisans and designers to learn and support the execution of key production techniques.
Finishing: Refine surfaces and joins to meet our exacting aesthetic standards.
Studio Support: Shadow/assist with glazing operations, material organization, and tool maintenance.
Documentation: Track processes and learnings to ensure production flow and quality standards
Kiln: Load and unload bisque and glaze kilns under supervision
Technical Foundation: Proven experience in ceramics with an emphasis on hand-building.
Manual Dexterity: Exceptional eye-hand coordination and the ability to interpret technical sketches.
Sensibility: A “quiet attentiveness” to process and an openness to learning through repetition.
Education: Degree in Fine Arts or Ceramics a plus, but not required.
Experience: Experience set in a production format.
