POSITION DESCRIPTION

Bark Frameworks, an ultra-high-end picture framing shop that has been leading the industry since 1969, seeks a qualified candidate for Chief Executive Officer CEO to lead our employee-owned business to a successful future.

The CEO is responsible for providing strategic leadership to the company by working with the Board of Directors and the executive management team to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies. The candidate should be ethical, passionate about the arts knowledgeable about business/finance, and able to inspire others through principled leadership. Finding an ideal fit with our company culture is key to the success of this position, both for the Company and the candidate.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. Business hours are 9 am – 6 pm. This position reports directly to the Bark Frameworks Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

CEO RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership/Vision:

  • Provide leadership company-wide.

  • Work with the management team to establish company values and mission.

  • Set and develop plans to meet short and long term goals.

  • Collaborate with the management team to learn, articulate, and develop the company’s culture and overall company vision.

  • Create an environment that promotes high performance. Model the behaviors desired from staff so they see it firsthand.

  • Identify and address problems and opportunities for the company.

Business Management/Strategy:

  • Make high-level decisions about company policy and strategy.

  • Act as the primary spokesperson for the company.

  • Assure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with national, state, and city laws and regulations.

  • Build alliances and partnerships with other organizations.

  • Drive long-term value creation in an employee-owned company environment.

  • Oversee and implement cost control measures.

  • Report to and work with the Board of Directors.

Sales & Marketing:

  • Develop and implement marketing plan, including identification of key target markets (including new markets), and development of initiatives to reach these markets.

  • Set and achieve annual revenue goals.

  • Develop and explore new products and concepts to generate new business and increase revenue.

  • Develop, guide, and manage sales force.

Operations:

  • Oversee day-to-day operation of the company.

  • Develop and implement operational policies and a strategic plan.

  • Work closely with the human resource department to ensure effective recruiting and policies.

  • Assemble a senior management team that reflects the company’s vision; and motivate/inspire/train that team to carry out company’s mission.

  • Model company culture from the top down.

  • Top level responsibility for quality assurance and safety.

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree in Fine Arts or Business Administration preferred.

  • At least five yrs. experience in a senior management position reporting directly to company president or CEO.

  • Working knowledge of profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow management, general finance and budgeting.

  • Working knowledge of basic business principles and marketing.

  • Responsible self-starter who is good in a crisis.

  • Ability to understand new issues quickly and make wise decisions.

  • Experience with corporate governance.

  • Proven negotiation skills.

  • Understanding of human resources and personnel management.

  • Ability to inspire confidence and create trust; ethical.

  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among executives, partners, and the workforce.

  • Ability to work under pressure, delegate, and plan personal workload effectively.
