TITLE: Communications Assistant

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

The position reports to the Director of Communications.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Communications Assistant supports the Communications Department as a whole, as well as the Director of Communications on the marketing and public relations initiatives for New York Live Arts (Live Arts) and the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, a program of Live Arts. The Communications Assistant supports the long-range marketing and communications strategies and goals, including researching outlets, general administrative duties, drafting pitches and press releases as set forth by the Director of Communications.

Responsibilities

Assist the Communications Dept. and the Programming Department to execute marketing, audience development and promotion plans for Live Arts season artists, Live Ideas festival, the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company and Live Arts humanities programming.

Partner with the Director of Communications to achieve the marketing goals and objectives with regards to ticket sales and audience development.

Research artists, shows, and outlets/journalists to assist in pitch and executions of marketing plans, and cross promotions with partner organizations.

Assist the Director of Communications to draft and distribute press releases.

Maintain database of media and marketing contacts.

Monitor and archive all New York Live Arts institution and program related press coverage and distribute regular updates to staff and board.

Research, write, proofread, edit, and secure approvals for all written materials, including artist specific and institutional print pieces, press releases, and website content.

Obtain advance photos, video, and any other relevant media from Live Arts season companies.

Print and assemble institutional and show press kits.

Partner with Graphic Design Consultant to gather information from participants for event programs; Print and assemble programs prior to events.

Partner with the Programming Department to gather information from participants for event programs; Print and assemble programs prior to events.

Manage and coordinate information gathering and copy for Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company touring presenter programs, meeting all deadlines.

Partner with the Director of Communications and Digital Media Coordinator to execute digital media buys and advertising campaigns.

Attend Weekly marketing meeting and record and distribute minutes.

Manage event calendar listings on a range of cultural and social websites.

Generate weekly ticketing and sales report to inform marketing and promotional efforts.

Ensure that all marketing information is entered in Patron Manager.

Support Director of Communications as needed to assist with customer service and community relations.

Requirements

SPECIFICATIONS:

Full Time with occasional night and weekend hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High level of enthusiasm for the experimental performing arts field in general and the mission of New York Live Arts in particular.

The ability to act as a liaison between groups with varied interests while honoring organizational mission, goals, and objectives.

Managing multiple projects at once with the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work responsibly and independently

Possess a strong attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects at one time.

The ability to work independently to accomplish short-term tasks and long-term goals.

Strong writing skills; Excellent communication skills.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Products.

Knowledge of and/or passion for dance, movement-based arts or performing arts is a plus.

B.A. degree or equivalent experience desired.
