Baltimore Center Stage is seeking a Communications Manager. The Communications Manager is responsible for the execution of proactive media outreach and the crafting of press releases, message points and other publications. This position serves as the primary copywriter and producer of online content for the organization and participates in the development of communications strategies. The ideal candidate will possess superior writing skills, has strong relationships with local and national media outlets, and experience curating and producing content for digital media, including newsletters, e-blasts and social media platforms. Knowledge of regional theater Public Relations is highly preferred. Under the leadership of Executive Director Michael Ross and Artistic Director Stephanie Ybarra BCS produces six shows and a wide range of other artistic and community programs. Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with day-to-day management of PR, communications and content strategies

  • Draft press materials, including press releases/advisories, media relations pitches, media backgrounders, and contributed articles

  • Serves as primary copywriter for all public material including advertising, press releases, social media posts, and website copy

  • Under the supervision of the Director of Communications and Strategic Partnerships, produces the production programs for the season by editing/proofing, determining pagination, collecting content (including bios, bio formatting, dramaturgical articles, etc), and generating additional program content when required

  • Work collaboratively to ensure public relations and publications activities are aligned with strategic focus

  • Support social media efforts, including drafting posts and seeking organic opportunities

  • Support proactive media outreach efforts to top-tier and niche media and influential bloggers

  • Respond to media inquiries and general inquiries from the public as necessary

  • Monitor daily news utilizing media monitoring services

Reports to: Director of Communications and Strategic Partnerships
