Peter Freeman, Inc. is hiring a Communications Manager. The Communications Manager leads the Gallery’s digital initiatives, printed matter design and production. This role requires a strong marketing sensibility, a keen sense of design and advanced software skills. It is an opportunity to work within a small close-knit team and make a big impact. This is a leadership role, candidate must be able to take initiative, and work well under pressure.
Primary Responsibilities:
Works closely with the Director, Sales and Research leads to develop communication strategies.
Liaising with members of the press: circulating press release and following up, maintaining a calendar of press deadlines, maintaining lists of writers, releasing images for press and publications.
Manages timetable for communications materials, events and initiatives.
Implements advertising design strategy and manages advertising budget.
Updates and maintains Gallery website via Exhibit-e.
Designs and produces special-project digital publications using the “OVR” (Online Viewing Room) subscription feature, also through Exhibit-e.
Oversee visual archiving, including communications with photographer, processing and saving digital photos to the server, adherence to size, resolution and naming conventions; maintaining a strict organization of our image server. Color correcting when needed.
In-house graphic design and printing of sales materials as needed.
Graphic design of posters, postcards and small publications; liaising with the printer.
Creating email announcements via Mailchimp and Instagram posts
Scale model building by hand and in SketchUp for gallery exhibitions and art fair booths
Other tasks as needed
Skills and Requirements:
3-6 years working in graphic design
Excellent skills in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator; video editing skills a plus;
Knowledge of SketchUp, Artbase and mail chimp
Solid skills in pre-press, specification and file preparation for diverse forms of digital and offset production
Good communication skills and ability to function as part of a team
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Previous gallery experience
Excellent organization skills
Great collaborator
This is a full-time, on-site position, Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6pm. Salary is commensurate with experience in the range of $50,000-$60,000 annually.
