Community Engagement Manager
Poetic Justice at MIT Media Lab
Poetic Justice is an artist-led and social-justice-focused group at MIT Media Lab. We research intersectional issues such as racial and environmental justice and develop large-scale participatory public artworks in collaboration with communities and institutions. Our works range from sound and video to installation and can be experienced over the phone, online, in galleries and on the streets. Our current projects include a series of ongoing sound and video portraits featuring crowdsourced phone and webcam recordings and internet archives which are remixed into evolving poetic collages. We’re currently looking for 3 community engagement managers for 3 oral history-related projects. Please find job descriptions below:

Develop relationships and partnerships
Research and develop long-term outreach strategies and plans
Research various advocacy and affinity groups based on campaign goals
Contact various groups and individuals and track leads
Develop targeted campaigns and measure their success
Analyze metrics and present data
Manage and work closely with Community Coordinators in multiple cities
Manage content which includes listening to recordings, reviewing transcriptions, and contacting participants as needed
Develop guidelines for communication with a focus on inclusivity and equity
Other tasks as needed
Requirements:
5+ experience in community organizing or campaigning; comparable work experience will be considered
Knowledge of social justice issues
Previous success building campaigns, fundraising, or other large-scale public outreach
Experience with lead generation and tracking
Knowledge of Salesforce and/or comparable software
Strong communication and management skills
