WHAT YOU’LL DO
You’ll manage your own portfolio of projects, with clients such as private developers, architects, interior designers and city managers representing a range of industry verticals from hotels and corporate offices to Community Arts Plans and public art projects. Curators join early stage sales meetings to explain our process and help set a realistic budget and timeline for projects; fully own the first two stages of our four stage process by developing a vision and project roadmap that meets the client’s unique needs, and curate an incredible art collection. -You’ll have support from an Acquisitions Lead who will ensure the collection is accurately purchased, prepared, and installed. Other responsibilities include:
Oversee project portfolio of $1.5M/year, typically 10-15 projects at one time
Own project from vision to curation, and support project through acquisitions and installation
Manage client expectations and push their boundaries for innovation of art programs
Manage a team of Curators and Studio Associates
Incorporate diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility (DEIBA) goals into your project work and annual performance goals, and demonstrate the values outlined in our paper, The Art of Representation
Heighten name recognition for NINE dot ARTS in local, regional and national art communities
Project examples include:
Hotel with 200 guest rooms, lobby, and pre-function space
Multi-year Community Arts Plan for 50+ acre mixed use development site
Corporate Office with a strong art collection that hired us to critique existing art inventories and create programs for inventory disposal, donation and/or reuse
Large-scale public sculptural installation for a city
This position reports to our Curatorial Director, Denise Joseph. The Curator can work remotely from any of the following metro areas: Denver, CO; Seattle, WA; Atlanta, GA; or Charlotte, NC. Our beautiful headquarters, an open and art-filled office in Denver, is available for workspace or meetings. Monthly travel is required for project site visits and team meetings.
WHAT YOU BRING
Curation: Expertise in developing and installing innovative art collections, with a track record of elevating the artwork of communities historically marginalized by the art world, including BIPOC and LGBTQ+ artists
Staff Management: Track record of supporting growth and development of direct reports
Client Management: Experience surpassing client expectations in bringing their vision to life through art curation and delivery
Project Management: Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet all deadlines and budgets
Expertise: Formal studies or work experience in art or art history are required. Degree in business, liberal arts, fine arts, studio arts, art history or arts management preferred.
10+ years of professional experience in a related field, for example:
Experience working in professional services and consulting, particularly experience with our key client industry of commercial real estate development, including adjacent services such as architecture, design, construction, development or finance
Experience in urban planning, creative placemaking or development of large-scale Community Arts Plans (formerly Art Master Plans)
COMPENSATION
Salary: $80k-$100k DOE, with 20% annual bonus target, plus company benefits.
