Our goal is to establish the Eames Institute as a home for a new generation of curious problem-solvers, and design is central to our mission. Through exceptional designs across digital and physical expressions, our creative work aims to inspire a global audience while clearly communicating our mission, vision, values, and standards.
The Design Director is responsible for bringing the Eames Institute brand to life visually across a wide range of platforms, products, and experiences. You will be responsible for establishing a design competency within our organization, and understanding the balance of service and leadership this entails.
As the Design Director, you will:
Implement design at every touch point
Bring the Eames Institute brand to life visually across a wide range of platforms, products, and experiences—including website, social, print collateral, and physical spaces
Bring a knowledge of design production to execute to the highest standards of quality
Provide art direction for photo shoots and physical manifestations of brand
Present creative concepts and designs to cross-functional teams for review and concept ideation
Operationalize Design within the Organization
Develop design processes and resources to effectively collaborate with internal and external partners, and serve the organization
Lead engagements with external creative partners (illustrators/photographers) and agencies as needed
Oversee Brand Guidelines
Advance a Culture of Design
Partner closely with leadership and internal teams to understand strategy, business goals, timelines, planning, to inform the organization’s design function
Serve as a critical voice on, and contributor to, our growing Communications & Creative team

You may have…
8+ years experience working on in-house creative team, creative agency, or similar
Strong visual design portfolio that demonstrates a meticulous sense of detail for design craft and execution across platforms—digital, print, physical
Demonstrable skills for layout, typography, color, composition, art direction, and production
Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
Experience and knowledge working in Adobe Creative Suite
Bonus: Experience and knowledge working with Figma, Miro, Milanote, & Bynder
