The Development Assistant, Individual Giving provides direct support to the Individual Giving team, playing an integral role in the Museum’s advancement efforts at a pivotal moment in our history.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Director of Individual Giving by managing appointment calendars, fielding phone calls, drafting correspondence and memoranda, entering data in Raiser’s Edge, and helping to maintain the Director’s portfolio

  • Assist the Individual Giving team’s moves management process by maintaining prospect lists, benefit fulfillments, and fundraising timelines; keeping proposals up to date in Raiser’s Edge; and drafting templates

  • Work with the Development Operations team to process individual gifts, track pledges, and craft and send gift acknowledgments

  • Assist with management of patron renewal notices

  • Conduct donor research and prepare memos

  • Help manage and support donor cultivation events, including early-stage planning, check-in and logistics, and liaising with vendors

  • Perform administrative tasks for the Individual Giving team, including financial and human resources reporting

  • Work on special projects and other tasks, as assigned

Requirements

A successful candidate will meet many of these requirements, and have the desire and capacity to learn the rest on the job.

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • At least one year of related professional experience in development

  • Clear, concise, and professional verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft Office

  • Poised, professional engagement with colleagues, donors, and other stakeholders

  • Mature judgment and discretion when handling confidential and/or sensitive information

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, especially when communicating on behalf of the Director of Individual Giving and other senior Development staff

  • A high level of personal motivation, agency, and ownership of assigned projects and tasks

  • Ability to meet competing deadlines on time, work independently, and exercise thoughtful prioritization

  • Sense of humor, collegial approach, and equanimity

Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm
