Wiseman Studio is a busy, multi-faceted artist studio located in the Frogtown neighborhood of Los Angeles, dedicated to producing the work for David Wiseman. Working across bronze, ceramic, and other media, the studio produces site-specific installations, furniture, lighting fixtures, and objects, using age-old fabrication methods and modern techniques, including 3D modeling, digital printing and CNC routing.

This role develops digital models used for mold-making and constructing high relief paneling for installations. This position will help to see a project from concept sketch to digital model, to fabrication with CNC or 3D printers, and ultimately participate in some final hand finishing. The ideal candidate will be flexible, capable of taking on project responsibilities, and eager to understand new processes.

Full time position with benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience. Trial period of 90 days.

Studio hours: Monday through Friday, 10 am – 6 pm

Responsibilities

Creatively solve project constraints and translate sketches into 3D models.

Understand and be able to think through project construction.

Ability to juggle multiple projects and manage deadlines.

Finish works at high levels of detail and push studio craftsmanship.

Must be able to work independently but able to accept direction and feedback.

Team player and communicator with a positive working attitude.

Provide general studio assistance.

Requirements

4-year degree in Architecture, Furniture, Industrial Design or a similar design-build experience.

Proficiency in Rhinoceros 3D is required, knowledge of Grasshopper or similar computational design skills are beneficial.

Ability to set tool paths and operate a CNC router, experience with RhinoCAM.

Expert knowledge of Adobe creative suite to communicate ideas and share technical drawings.

Proficiency creating drawings and renderings from 3D models and site plans. Clearly communicate assembly and care instructions.

Ability to read architectural plans.

Zbrush sculpting and desire to learn new softwares is helpful.

Spanish language skills are helpful but not required.
