The Jewish Museum:

Founded in 1904 and located on New York City’s Museum Mile, the Jewish Museum is a museum at the intersection of art and Jewish culture for people of all backgrounds. The Museum maintains a unique collection of nearly 30,000 works of art, ceremonial objects, and media reflecting the global Jewish experience over more than 4,000 years. The Museum applies a contemporary lens to its exhibitions, which range from ancient to contemporary art.

The Position:

The Digital Marketing Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Museum’s promotional efforts through email marketing strategies and other CRM-driven marketing approaches. The role supports all aspects of the Museum’s audience-facing activities and collaborates across the Museum with staff in Curatorial, Education, Visitor Experience, Development, Membership, and the Shop.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Marketing, the Digital Marketing Coordinator is a member of the Digital Content & Communications Department, which develops and executes integrated promotional strategies across all channels to raise the profile of the Museum, increase onsite visitation and online engagement, and support audience development goals for all areas of the Museum’s operations.

Responsibilities

Oversee email marketing strategies, including developing project timelines, assets, copy, and data deliverables to ensure successful implementation of campaigns against deadlines and objectives.

  • Develop audience-focused content with compelling calls to action for targeted email communications, including copy writing/editing, gathering of assets, list management, and approval routing.

  • Collaborate with colleagues in Visitor Experience, Membership, Shop, and in-house and external IT resources to develop CRM marketing strategies to support audience development and revenue goals.

  • In collaboration with Creative Services, develop necessary assets to support campaigns.

  • Develop goals and track relevant goals and internal KPIs for benchmarking and optimization, including for internal reporting and optimizing future campaigns.

  • Develop tests of messaging, subject lines, and calls to action to review for effectiveness.

  • Review campaign results and metrics with key internal stakeholders to share and gather insights.

Manage email lists in alignment with best practices in data management.

  • Develop strategies for list growth, including approaches for data capture, both high- and low-tech.

Oversee administration of Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

  • Ensure integration with other digital platforms, including website, (ExpressionEngine), and WiFi marketing vendor (SocialSign.in).

  • Conduct trainings for staff to manage data and to execute select email campaigns

Maintain a clear and distinctive voice for the Museum brand.

  • Uphold editorial standards of the Museum’s website, TheJewishMuseum.org.

  • Translate academic prose into audience-focused messaging with clear calls to action.

  • Serve as a content editor for the Museum’s website its content management system (ExpressionEngine).

Supervise intern(s), freelancers, and outside vendor relationships.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • 3-7 years digital marketing experience at nonprofit, membership organization, or agency environment.

  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and verbal communications skills; ability to communicate clearly about technical issues with non-technical staff.

  • Expertise and knowledge of best practices with respect to email service providers (Marketing Cloud preferred), content management systems, and basic knowledge of HTML.

  • Strong production skills, extremely organized, detail-oriented.

  • Experience in list and data management.

  • Analytical skills with ability to generate metrics reports using Google Analytics.

  • Personable team player.

  • Creative problem-solver able to work nimbly in a deadline-oriented manner.

  • Knowledge of/interest in art and Jewish culture.
