Black Rock Senegal, the international, multidisciplinary residency program launched by renowned artist Kehinde Wiley in 2019, is seeking a Digital Media Fellow.

The mission of Black Rock Senegal is to support new artistic creation through collaborative exchange and to incite change in the global discourse about Africa. The residency brings together international artists to live and work in Dakar, Senegal.

The ideal candidate has experience producing lively social media content, organizing and producing digital and print content across platforms, and is willing to take initiative to spearhead new projects.

The position will report to the Black Rock Senegal Director and will work closely with colleagues at Kehinde Wiley Studio in New York.

Responsibilities
  • Creating social media content on a consistent basis in relation to activities of the artist residency program, primarily via our Instagram account.

  • Manage and update website content.

  • Preparing image content for social media, including editing.

  • Design and development of a new magazine project.

  • Coordinating with photographers and videographers.

  • Assisting with layout and preparation of all outgoing materials as needed.

  • Translate content between French and English.

Requirements
  • Fluency in French and English is required.

  • Based in Dakar, Senegal or willing to temporarily relocate to Dakar.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in photography and videography, and proficiency in graphic design. Demonstrated experience with social media platforms is a plus.

  • Strong skills in Adobe programs, specifically with Photoshop, InDesign, and video editing software are required. Experience with Adobe Illustrator is a plus.

  • Ability to understand and replicate the style and mood of the residency for all outgoing communications.

  • Ability to efficiently lay out digital and print materials for use on websites, social media, quarterly magazine and fundraising/outreach materials as needed.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to maintain a flexible, positive attitude under stress.

This is a year long, full time position with an ideal start date of April 1, 2021. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
