Director of Institutional Advancement

Position Summary:
The Director of Institutional Advancement is responsible for planning, organizing and directing all of AFA’s fundraising including, the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns. The DOD works closely with the Director & CEO and the Board of Directors in all development and fundraising initiatives.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
Create and implement annual fundraising strategy
Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors
Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential corporate, foundation and individual donors
Oversee and assist with grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements
Research and identify new prospects for the board
Develop and grow individual donor base; manage individual membership program
Direct the annual fund campaign including mailings, online solicitations and annual fundraising drives
Oversee and assist with prospect research
Participate in Board Development Committee meetings
Oversee fundraising and tracking systems
Oversee the department and supervise staff
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of professional fundraising and development experience, preferably at an art museum or related institution
Demonstrated accomplishment in major gifts, corporate and foundation support
Excellent communication skills
Supervisory, organizational and planning skills essential
Ability to take initiative and be creative in developing new sources of support
Supervises: 5-person Development team
Salary: Commensurate with experience
