Responsibilities

What You Will Do

Grow and Manage the Public Giving Pipeline

  • Maintain an active portfolio of corporate, foundation, government, and educational institution prospects and funders.

  • In partnership with our stewardship counterpart, develop tailored cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies that reflect each funder’s priorities, guidelines, and mission alignment.

  • Collaborate closely with the Grant Writer to coordinate proposal timelines, ensure accuracy of submitted materials, and strategically match opportunities with organizational priorities.

  • Conduct prospect research to identify new grant opportunities, sponsorships, and institutional partnerships.

  • Track portfolio activity with clarity and precision, ensuring timely follow ups, proposal cycles, and reporting deadlines.

Build and Strengthen Public Relationships

  • Engage in meaningful dialogue with institutional funders through calls, emails, meetings, site visits, and participation in internal and external events.

  • Craft thoughtful communications, including LOIs, proposals (in partnership with the Grant Writer), impact reports, and partnership updates, that clearly convey mission and measurable outcomes.

  • Ensure every funder feels valued, informed about Scottsdale Arts’ work, and recognized for their partnership and investment.

Drive Fundraising Results

  • Partner with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) to set annual revenue goals across institutional giving categories and co create strategies to achieve them.

  • Work closely with Grant Writer, and key internal partners, including program, finance, and marketing teams, to ensure deliverables, reporting, and revenue plans stay on track.

  • Communicate proactively about progress, challenges, opportunities, and upcoming deadlines within the public giving pipeline.

  • Prepare compelling proposal packages, sponsorship decks, and grant materials that highlight mission impact, community benefit, and measurable outcomes, aligning proposal content and timelines.

  • Monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed to meet goals.

Collaborate Across the Organization

  • Partner closely with the development team, including the Grant Writer, to ensure an integrated and seamless donor experience.

  • Strengthen cross-departmental relationships to gather program data, articulate outcomes, and foster a culture of philanthropy.

  • Represent institutional giving interests at internal meetings and events that deepen organizational alignment.

Additionally, you will be required to support other duties and activities as needed.

  • You can juggle multiple projects at once, exercise initiative, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • You speak confidently about impact and can translate programmatic work into compelling case statements.

  • You thrive in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

  • You have working knowledge of the philanthropic and institutional funding landscape throughout the Phoenix Metro area.

  • You possess a genuine interest in the arts.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study.

  • At least three years of experience in institutional giving, grant writing support, corporate relations, or related fundraising work with demonstrated success in securing institutional funding.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, especially in persuasive writing and proposal development.

  • Comfort using donor databases and CRM tools, plus other project management and communication platforms.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the organization’s insurance carrier.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Work Environment

  • Must be able to regularly sit at a desk and work on a computer for long periods of time.

  • Must ambulate in event locations, stoop, kneel, bend, and stand for long periods of time.

  • Must sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel, see, and reach with hands and arms to operate computer equipment, telephone, and basic office equipment.

  • The employee must lift and or move up to 30 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close and color vision.

  • While performing duties, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • Due to the nature of the position, it requires a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends to support programs, fundraisers, special events, and donor cultivation activities. Frequent travel throughout the Phoenix Metro area is required.
