Hi-ARTS seeks a dynamic Executive Director to lead our growing team. As we celebrate a significant milestone for Hi-ARTS: our 20th Anniversary, the Executive Director will help galvanize staff and board of trustees through expansions in staff and programming. The Executive Director is responsible for raising individual and major gifts, and securing institutional support.

The Executive Director will preside over a new phase of development with a focus on a commitment to social justice, place based work, and new remote and in person programming. The Executive Director is tasked with continuing to elevate the work of Hi-ARTS nationally and locally. Having recently added staff in development, marketing, and program management Hi-ARTS has increased capacity which places it in a position for substantive growth. The Executive Director will create and implement strategies that continue to build structures, systems, and work culture that facilitate organizational growth. This position reports to the Board of Trustees.

Salary: $90000.00 to $95000.00 (Annual)

Responsibilities
  • Fundraising and partnerships

  • Maintain the mission or values of the organization

  • Build and manage board of trustees

  • Manage and mentor staff

  • Serve as organization public face and spokesperson

  • Maintain infrastructure and financial systems

  • Culture and team management

  • Conduct financial oversight

  • Articulate and execute a strategic vision and planning

Requirements
  • 5-7 years of management experience leading an organization above $750,000

  • Experience securing major institutional and governmental grants and individual donations

  • Established relationships with local and national institutional funders

  • Experience with board development and management

  • Superior planning and execution skills

  • Values driven management ethos

  • Proven results in driving strategic initiatives

  • Collaborative and collegial presence and practice

  • Knowledge of urban aesthetics and Hip-Hop culture

  • Commitment to diversity, access and representation in the workplace

  • Ability to build consensus and teams

  • Support development of all staff members

  • Knowledge of trends in the arts in New York City and nationally

  • Entrepreneurial practice
