POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Head of Research & Archives, the Writer & Editor is responsible for using in-depth art-historical and industry knowledge to develop original content for Lévy Gorvy’s sales, exhibition, publication, marketing, advisory, and inventory materials, ensuring all editorial content is consistent with house style and key brand messages.
Research, write, edit, and fact-check notes for consignments and gallery inventory; narrative artist biographies; proposals for artist and estate representation; and exhibition proposals
Draft, edit, and fact-check text for exhibitions, including loan letters and other correspondence, wall labels, and in-gallery texts; marketing materials; and gallery publications including acknowledgments and chronologies
Develop sales packages and advisory content for Sales Directors including market research and comparables
Work with team members to shape texts for clarity, accuracy, and audience
PERSONAL QUALITIES:

Strong knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style

REQUIRED BACKGROUND:
Master’s degree in art history from an accredited institution, preferably with an emphasis on twentieth-century to contemporary art
5+ years of experience in a gallery, museum, or other arts institution specializing in modern to contemporary art
3+ years of professional editorial experience and familiarity with text production standards
Computer skills: MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign skills preferred)
Must be available for gallery openings and other events as needed, which may take place over weekends or fall outside normal gallery hours.
