We are especially interested in recruiting individuals who are active artists, with technical expertise in a wide range of printmaking and graphic techniques and outputs, traditional and digital, and their potential interactions, as well as a broad knowledge of contemporary theoretical concerns and the history of art, especially the history of prints and graphic arts. The teaching load is two courses per semester in the areas of printmaking, typography, graphic design, and book arts, as well as the advising of senior thesis students concentrating in printed matter. Teaching is expected to include use of the University’s special collections, most notably the original prints from the University’s Davison Art Center collection. Candidates must have an MFA or equivalent in art or related field in hand, and previous teaching experience at the college level is required.

It is expected that candidates will maintain a robust artistic practice; strong exhibition and/or publishing record will be expected for promotion. Successful candidates will join a distinguished Studio Art Program with a shared commitment to teaching traditional and experimental media. Studio facilities include equipment for digital production (e.g. large-scale printers, laser cutters, 3d printers, cnc mill, etc.), and analog production (e.g. facilities and presses for etching, woodblock, and lithography, including three Vandercook presses, one of which has a 30” x 30” bed, many cases of metal and wooden type, etc.). Additional duties include management of the print studio (working with the support staff, including student monitors), advising and mentoring students, and participating in faculty governance at the departmental and university levels.
