The Morgan Library & Museum seeks a part-time Assistant Curator in the Department of Music Manuscripts & Printed Music who will aid in planning and implementing exhibitions (particularly those for the McKim and Gilder-Lehrman Lobby exhibition spaces and pop-up displays), host class visits and other educational activities, perform reference services, inventory and process collections, oversee and enter metadata for the Music Manuscripts Online project, and develop music-related enhancements to our website and add to our presence on Facebook and Twitter.
This is a temporary, part-time position (approximately 21 hours per week) reporting to the Mary Flagler Cary Curator and Department Head of Music Manuscripts and Printed Music.

Graduate degree in music (with an ability to read music)
Knowledge of western classical music
Knowledge of cataloguing and digitization processes
Basic reading knowledge of French and/or German
Experience with primary materials in a research library, archive, or museum
Familiarity with the principles of the care and handling of rare books, manuscripts, and scores
Excellent research, writing, and public speaking skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Ability to interpret scholarship for the general public
Commitment to collaboration and teamwork
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to work for extended periods at a computer workstation
Able to lift moderately heavy boxes and books, move items to and from shelves
Able to climb ladders, wheel carts with collection items through the facility, and tolerate moderate levels of dust and odor generated during normal collection management activities and movement of objects
Standing for extended periods during exhibition installation
