Responsibilities

Here is what you will get to do:

  1. Operates technical equipment such as audio, lighting, and visual systems to support and enhance presentations by facility users.

  2. Inspects and maintains Operations equipment, notifies personnel when major repair is required.

  3. Confers with Director of Operations to ensure efficient execution of departmental responsibilities, to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve facility operations.

  4. Performs general repair and maintenance work in all Scottsdale Arts managed facilities such as skilled and manual work involving fabrication, carpentry, painting, electrical, mechanical and plumbing tasks.

  5. Requisitions tools, equipment and supplies required for departmental operations.

  6. Ensures the timely preparation and restoration of facilities before and after events.

  7. Acts as Facility Event Representative during assigned events to answer immediate questions and provide hands-on support to clients and staff.

  8. Oversees the coordination of staff during rental events regarding all pertinent facility support and personnel to manage and ensure fulfillment of client needs, and facility standards.

  9. Responsible for the scheduling of on call staff based on the events calendar, needs of the organization or other factors.

  10. As assigned, performs line supervision and directs the day to day activities of the on call event staff. Ensures tasks are assigned, performed, follows up on any issues or concerns. May redirect staff as needed during the flow of the event.

  11. Responsible for anticipating and meeting financial arrangements of clients’ needs through communication and advancement of events.

  12. Assists the Director by contributing to the formulation of written and documented facility operations, risk management and safety policies and procedures and ensures that facility users and staff comply with these policies and procedures.

  13. Assists Director of Operations with coordination and implementation of special events and festivals.

  14. Creates and/or maintains basic CAD event drawings or room layouts of pertinent SA facility locations; creates custom event layouts as assigned by the Director of Operation.

  15. Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  1. Education: Four year degree from accredited college or technical school preferred; or four years related work experience or combination of education and experience in the technical or building maintenance field.

  2. Experience: Training and/or experience in the following fields a plus; building maintenance, general construction, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, mechanical systems, and facilities management. Knowledge of set-up and operation of stage sound, lighting, visual, staging and rigging systems.

  3. Attributes:

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Ability to apply common sense, understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Knowledge of facility management and practices; knowledge of estimating, budgeting and scheduling practices; knowledge of building codes and standards of practice

  • Knowledge of good service practices and regulations. Ability to plan, service and supervise public and commercial settings, demonstrated ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, clients, City personnel, visiting artists and the general public required.;

  • Working knowledge of power tools.

  • Word processing and experience with spreadsheets required. Knowledge of CAD, scheduling and project management software preferred

  1. Work Environment: Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds following OSHA safety guidelines. Must be agile enough to work on catwalks and roofs up to 45 feet above the ground. Regularly required to sit, stand and walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Required to maintain safe working practices and procedures. The work environment includes working out of doors which can include extreme temperatures and various noise levels. Must be available to work early mornings, nights, weekends and irregular hours as business needs dictate. Scottsdale Arts is a non-smoking work environment.

  2. Other requirements:

  • Must possess valid driver’s license and driving record which is acceptable to the organization’s insurance carrier.
