We are seeking temporary staff with an enthusiasm for art, to fill the following roles at this year’s Frieze London and Frieze Masters fairs.

approx. 6 day contract

Frieze London: 12–17 October 2021

Frieze Masters: 12–17 October 2021

Some positions will require staff to work both pre and post-fair dates.

Salary: Dependent on role and experience.

Deadline: 5pm BST on 23 August 2021.

Interviews: Week commencing 23rd August 2021. Interviews will be held remotely.

Responsibilities
  • Distribution Staff: Most of these positions are situated within the marketing department and will involve manual handling and distribution of printed literature. Successful candidates will be required for additional dates both pre and post-fair.

  • Sales Manager: this position will involve managing the sales team.

  • Exhibitor Dept. Staff: applicants must have good interpersonal skills, be computer literate and have excellent knowledge of contemporary art/art history.

  • Vetting Scribes: must be comfortable and competent in a client-facing role, have an interest in and strong knowledge of art history and historical terms across a variety of disciplines.

  • Office Assistants: administrative experience and a very pro-active attitude are required.

  • Pass Administrators: applicants must be IT literate and comfortable using databases.

  • Press Staff: Prior PR or events experience is desirable, as is an interest in contemporary art, an excellent knowledge of MAC and in particular Excel and a second language. The role can involve cutting out press clippings, translations, issuing passes and chaperoning film crews.

  • Sales Staff: applicants should have previous sales/retail experience, as well as knowledge of all Frieze publications.

  • VIP Assistants/Hospitality Staff: Some knowledge of artists and collectors in the contemporary art world and experience of working with VIPs in a fast-moving environment, are required. Successful applicants will be the main point of contact at the Frieze VIP desks – checking people in, issuing VIP cards and answering any enquiries about the fair, under the supervision of our Frieze VIP Team. Other responsibilities can include assisting with events on and off site, as well as back of house data entry. Please include examples of events/people you have worked with to support your CV.

  • Cloakroom Staff and Runners: applicants should have the ability to work well under pressure, excellent teamwork skills and a good sense of humour. Manual handling is involved.

  • Production Runner role: The position involves manual handling and the lifting of some heavy items during the set up and dismantling of the fairs.  Basic DIY skills are useful. Successful candidates will be required for additional dates both pre and post-fair.

  • Deputy House Manager: A very hands on position. Must have experience of managing staff and working with the public in a fast paced environment.

  • IT Runners: The position will involve manual handling and the logistics of moving and setting up equipment (flight cases/printers) around both sites. Candidates must be punctual, have a basic knowledge of IT and suited to moving equipment effectively.

  • Sculpture Park Invigilators: This role will involve being outside in the Sculpture park rain or shine. We are looking for people to invigilate the sculptures, speak to visitors and hand out information.

Requirements
  • Applicants should be personable, patient, with strong people management skills.

  • Applicants should be dynamic, enthusiastic, proactive and reliable.

  • Applicants should have good organisational skills.

  • Applicants must have a very polished manner, excellent interpersonal skills and must remain calm under pressure.

  • A previous visit to a Frieze fair and knowledge of other contemporary art magazines is desirable.

  • A second language is desirable.

  • All applicants should be computer literate with knowledge of Macs (Word, Excel) and be familiar with very basic computer problem solving.

  • Experience of working with the public and/or contractors in a fast-paced environment, is essential.
