This position is a key component of all facets of Canal Projects’ non-profit operations. The candidate will be highly organized, possess the ability to take initiative and follow through on assigned tasks, and hold a general aptitude for anticipating and perceiving colleagues’ needs, especially during busy periods. They must be a team player, willing to flexibly and diligently adapt to any task at hand, possess an interest in working in a nonprofit environment, and an enthusiasm for promoting and articulating Canal Projects’ mission across various platforms and communities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Two years of experience working within a nonprofit arts environment preferred
Strong interest in contemporary art
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Computer proficiency on Mac and PC with programs of MS Office, Adobe Suite (especially InDesign), Slack, Google Drive, SketchUp
Strong attention to detail
Experience in social media management, communications, or editorial work
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities include
Planning and executing a plan of institutional communications of all events, exhibitions, and programs across social media and email campaigns along with metrics tracking and strategy for growth.
Coordinate logistics of events, exhibitions, and library residency, including opening reception logistics, maintaining production schedules, coordinating documentation and maintenance of digital archives.
Carry out the logistics and production for all public programs, including setup, breakdown, and documentation of events.
Daily maintenance of exhibition spaces, assuring that all is running smoothly
Ordering and maintaining office and pantry supplies.
Oversee a central calendar of exhibitions and programming as well as the management of an up to date website page.
Assist curatorial staff with research tasks, copyediting texts and printed matter like wall vinyls, exhibition booklets, and other communication materials.
Foster a friendly and engaging environment for visitors, answering questions, leading tours, and welcoming communities.
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership, demonstrating flexibility and readiness to contribute to various tasks and projects as needed.
