David Castillo is hiring a gallery assistant responsible for maintaining the gallery’s online presence through regular updates of the David Castillo website, social media, gallery newsletter, and other relevant platforms. Other responsibilities include maintaining the gallery’s press archives. The Gallery Assistant will also provide general support to the Director and will assist with other tasks as assigned. David Castillo seeks an individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills who is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and technically proficient.
Greet and direct visitors to the gallery
Appropriately direct or handle phone calls
Maintain the gallery contact database and prepare monthly e-mailings
Make timely updates to the gallery’s website
Maintain the gallery’s social media presence
Manage and sort gallery press
Assist in regular communication with gallery artists
Assist image permission requests and releases
Support the Director with additional projects, including general research, requesting quotes from businesses, and other general office tasks
Bachelor’s degree in art history or related field/ demonstrated interest in art
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, multitask, and work as part of a small team
Experience with graphic and web design is not required but is preferable
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
This is a part-time opportunity. The Gallery Assistant will have a fixed schedule of three days a week between Tuesday and Saturday from 10am to 6pm. Some schedule flexibility is requested during art fairs, openings, and during periods of exhibition installation and de-installation.
