Nazarian / Curcio is seeking an organized and energetic Gallery Assistant to join our team. The Gallery Assistant is a key member of the gallery team, supporting front desk operations, administrative tasks, sales, and communications. Serving as the first point of contact for visitors, clients, and press, the Gallery Assistant maintains a professional and welcoming environment while ensuring the smooth execution of exhibitions, events, and day-to-day gallery operations.

This part-time, in-person role is based at the gallery’s front desk, with occasional evening hours required for exhibition openings and special events. The position days are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 9:45 AM to 6:15 PM.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with excellent communication skills, sound judgment, discretion, and a polished, engaging manner, as well as a genuine interest in contemporary art and the gallery’s program. This position is an excellent opportunity for a motivated entry-level individual seeking to get a jump start in the art world and make significant contributions to the functioning of a commercial art gallery.

Responsibilities

Front Desk / Admin Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an organized and presentable gallery, replenishing gallery materials and office supplies

  • Greet and interact with all visitors and guests

  • Field walk-in, email, Instagram and phone inquiries, and appropriately direct them as needed

  • Organize, maintain, and stock gallery office storage areas and library

  • Handle bookstore merchandise checkouts and mailings

Sales / Client Relations:

  • Conduct gallery walkthroughs, directing sales/press inquiries to Directors

  • Process new contacts to gallery’s mailing list

  • Assist in organizing, preparing for, and managing opening receptions, dinners, events, and various activities for guests and visitors

  • Produce and update: artist, exhibition and art fair PDF presentations

Website, CV’s and Bios:

  • Update and Maintain Website

  • Make updates to artists’ CVs, bios, and press on web and all PDFs

Gallery Communications:

  • Manage communications calendar

  • Manage Social Media platforms

  • Create and send mailings through Mailchimp

  • Update calendar listings

  • Create press kits for artists, exhibitions, and art fairs

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to contemporary art

  • Knowledge of / passion for contemporary art and the gallery sector

  • Prior experience in a gallery or institution

  • Proficiency with a Mac-based environment, including Adobe (Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Sheets)
