Vielmetter Los Angeles is seeking a full-time Gallery Assistant. This is an entry-level position, 40 hours per week (Tuesday - Saturday schedule), with the exception of gallery openings, where attendance is required in addition to the regular 40 hour workweek. For the time being, only two days of work on-site at the gallery are required every week. PPE is provided and appropriate distancing measures are in place. Time on site will increase, with appropriate notice, as the COVID-19 pandemic becomes less severe.
Qualified candidates will have experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, administrative support, or other relevant job experience. Familiarity with Apple software and hardware, Microsoft Office, Google Mail, and Google Calendar are required. Candidates with a 2-year or 4-year college degree are preferred.
The Gallery Assistant is the first point of contact for most gallery guests. A professional, positive, and polite approach to answering the phone, writing emails, and interacting with guests is required. This is a dynamic position with room to learn about every function of the gallery. An interest in contemporary art, strong organizational and communication skills, and attention to detail are required. Many of the tasks that this position is responsible for can be learned on the job and training will be provided. It is helpful, but not essential, to have your own car to get to and from the gallery and to use to run occasional errands.
