Make Room is a rapidly-growing gallery in Hollywood with international outreach. This front-facing position requires great attention to detail, strong organizational skills, diplomacy, and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will enjoy interacting with the public as the first point of contact. This person will also be a self-starter and able to act independently and collaboratively as projects require. Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and sales support to the Directors and Exhibition Manager

  • Assist Exhibition Manager in coordinating all aspects of local transport, domestic and international shipping

  • Build and maintain relationships with shipping companies to ensure cost-effective, timely, and accurate estimates and shipments

  • Track consignment contracts with other galleries and clients, including alerting relevant staff to expiring agreements and updating them as needed

  • Preparing for new exhibitions and art fairs, both with the Owner and directly with the artists

  • Assist in the creation of exhibition and art fair materials

Greet and interact with gallery visitors, artists, clients, and press

  • Manage artist press, documents, and gallery archives

Opening and closing the Gallery each day, maintaining the gallery general tidiness

  • Acting as point-person and assisting with vendors such as caterers and cleaning service providers

  • Assist with on- and off-site event planning, including public and private receptions, programs, and events

  • Assist the Sales Team in updating artwork inventory and preparing images and offer PDFs, as needed

Requirements
  • BA/BFA/MA in Studio Art, Art History or Art Administration is preferred

  • Minimum two (2) years combined experience working at an art gallery, museum, auction house, or artist studio (internships acceptable) with emphasis on administrative and gallery operations

  • General experience with art handling

  • Interest in or passion for modern and contemporary art

  • Skills in a Mac-based environment required, including: Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Sheets) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Skills in the Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign) welcomed

  • Familiarity of sales platforms such as Arternal, Artlogic, and Artsy welcomed

  • Photography and graphic design skills are a plus

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, proficiency in Chinese or Korean is a plus

  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure to meet deadlines

  • Possession of a valid state driver’s license and reliable means of transportation to facilitate local collections and deliveries

How to Apply

The position is Tuesday - Saturday, 10 AM - 6 PM, with occasional evening commitments. The position starts immediately. Salary commensurate with experience, benefits package including healthcare, and paid vacation which increases with tenure.
