The Institutional Giving Officer is responsible for preparing and producing—in draft and final form—proposals, reports, and solicitations to foundations, corporate foundations, and government entities for general operating support, special exhibitions, and education and public programs as well as other special project needs.

Responsibilities

Prepare and edit sophisticated and compelling funding proposals and decks

Write detailed reports and handle other aspects of stewardship, including direct contact with program officers, directors, donor trustees, and government agency staff

Conduct prospect research and prepare briefing materials and donor acknowledgements

Work with our Finance team to reconcile accounts, including all gifts, invoices, and expenses

Assist in development of cultivation and solicitation strategies for foundation, corporate, and government entities

Participate in planning short- and long-term strategies to meet fundraising goals

Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the Museum’s strategic plan, mission, and vision, as well as our permanent collection, special exhibitions, and education and public programs, in order to effectively articulate our priorities and fundraising objectives to donors and prospects

Manage and maintain key departmental systems and records

Collaborate closely with our larger Development team and other departments across the Museum

Perform related duties, as required

Requirements

Bachelor’s or graduate degree in art history, arts administration, museum studies, english, or an equivalent field

Two or more years of experience in grant writing or a transferable skillset

Excellent expository writing, communication, and research skills, keen attention to detail, and superior copyediting skills

Ability to interact with funders and anticipate their needs

Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Raiser’s Edge

Excellent time management skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and flexibility in adjusting workflow to meet priorities

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Results-oriented, with a passionate commitment to the arts and appreciation of the Museum’s goals and mission
