CHV Art & Services is looking for a part-time (2-3 days per week - potentially growing to full-time) very experienced mat cutter and frame fitter to join its high-end Chelsea studio. Our clients include museums, galleries, fine-art collectors and artists - demanding and particular work requiring superior craftsmanship. The ideal applicant would be a reliable, self-sufficient, mature individual who can work well with our committed, talented, and friendly team.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities would include:
o Installing frame glazing and fillets;
o Fitting high-end art into custom frames
o Packing artwork safely for transport / shipment.
o Ability to carry/ team lift plexi-glass sheets and museum board packages
Requirements
Position requirements:
o Proper handling of valuable and sometimes fragile artwork
o Measuring artwork and determining appropriate mat dimensions;
o Cutting mat boards to size - including windows in 8-ply boards particularly
o Knowledge of and practice with archival hinging techniques
o Mindful of pace and production deadlines
