About this role:
The Museum Facilities Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and secure environment at the USGA Golf Museum and Library. This role serves as the primary Campus Operations presence at the museum and is the first responder for facilities, security, and operational issues. The Museum Technician supports daily museum operations, facilities maintenance, exhibit care, and event execution, while providing a welcoming experience for visitors.
What you’ll do:
Facilities & Museum Operations
Maintain cleanliness and safety throughout the museum, including all public and non-public areas
Clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms
Perform continuous upkeep of galleries, exhibits, and display areas to ensure they are clean, secure, and visitor-ready
Support museum security procedures and report issues as needed
Assist museum staff with the setup and breakdown of exhibits on- and off-campus
Facilities Maintenance, Events & Operational Support
Set up, maintain, and break down special events and programs
Perform minor electrical, plumbing, wall, and general repair work
Complete miscellaneous work requests including painting, hanging artwork or bulletin boards, furniture moves, and floor care
Maintain inventory of supplies (cleaning, lighting, coffee, etc.) and notify supervisor when reordering is required
Assist with work in other campus buildings as directed
Respond to facilities-related emergencies as needed
Support safety and code inspections
Assist with basic A/V support in coordination with IT
Provide coverage for the Administrative Building Attendant during vacations or as needed
Assist with security coverage and procedures when directed
Support shipping and receiving activities as assigned
Support the grounds team in snow removal tasks
Museum & Visitor Support
Assist museum staff with the care and handling of museum and library materials
Prepare, install, and de-install exhibits
Support shipping and receiving of museum artifacts and materials
Interact professionally with museum visitors and provide basic assistance as needed
Prepare spaces and assist with photo and film shoots
Assist with organizing artwork, library materials, and artifacts
Valid driver’s license
Working knowledge of basic home and facility repairs, including minor electrical and plumbing work, or building technician experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of commercial and residential cleaning practices preferred
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to perform moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and climb ladders
Knowledge of museum collection care and handling is a plus
Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly and professionally
Courteous, conscientious, and service-oriented demeanor
Willingness and ability to work overtime as required
