The Fowler Museum at UCLA is looking for a qualified, articulate, and energetic individual who may have an interest in the arts to join our front-line team and who will be responsible for interacting with visitors, overseeing a body of student employees, safeguarding the Museum’s collections, temporary exhibitions, and participating on a team of people responsible for setting up and securing large and small scale events.



  • safeguarding the Museum’s collections, temporary exhibitions, property, employees, and visitors through highly proactive, appropriately preemptive, and immediately responsive action.

  • Inspects and patrols all museum spaces on foot: including onsite and office program spaces: monitors and operates computerized alarm, access, and closed circuit television systems; watched for, reports, and addresses potential security and safety hazards and problems; checks entrances and exits; and performs dispatch duties.

  • Maintains and files security logs and reports, and performs other security duties as assigned by Supervisor and Management.

  • helps to coordinate events and may set up tables and audiovisual equipment for public and private events. The incumbent is also responsible for serving as backup supervisor for up to 20-part time student Museum Attendants.



  • Ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing, including effective radio communication, log reporting and report writing skills.

  • Ability to follow directions and complete all assignments thoroughly and with attention to detail.

  • Excellent judgment in responding to questions from visitors and colleagues, seeking information within the organization, and reporting necessary information to supervisors.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook
