Cinnabar is a specialty fabrication company that builds almost anything and everything for the world’s most innovative architects, artists, brands, museums, and theme parks. Our 65,000-square-foot shop employs over 70 highly skilled designers, engineers, and craftspeople.
We are currently seeking skilled individuals who prefer to be freelance or work for up to a few months at a time for our on-call carpentry list.
Scenic Carpenters play an integral role in fabricating and installing unique show sets, museum exhibits and specialty items, working closely with our project leads on the shop floor, as well as project management and technical design teams to understand and accurately execute designs.
While every day will present new and interesting challenges, you will frequently:
Work directly from shop drawings to fabricate cabinets, millwork, and case work to high fit and finish standards
Apply knowledge of typical cabinet construction, joinery and fabrication methods and make suggestions based on quality and efficiency
Make jigs, tooling, and operate all shop equipment (table saws, panel saws, planer, belt sander, drill presses, hand tools, routers, CNC router is a plus)
Assemble and finish components
Cut and shape components by determining appropriate methods for cutting, shaping, and assembling parts
Take and verify accurate dimensions, scribe and assemble keeping to tight tolerances
Trim parts using hand tools and measuring tools
Assemble elements by attaching parts and components using hand power tools
Understand and enforce safe working practices in the shop and on site
Maintain a clean and organized work site
Communicate effectively, and handles stress in a positive manner
Execute any other tasks the Project Lead may assign
Because our work is so unique, your responsibilities might change based on the project.
Craftsmanship and collaboration are key to this role. As a carpenter, you will frequently work with other production departments to produce fine, custom pieces.
You should have:
5+ years of high-end cabinet and millwork fabrication experience
A collaborative and professional demeanor
Cabinet installation experience
Ability to operate all shop and site equipment and tools at a high level
CNC router experience is a plus
Familiar with all commonly used hardware (slides, hinges, fasteners,. etc.)
Able to communicate in a professional manner
Uses a personal phone for email, text, calls and navigation during work hours
Ability to fabricate and install fine finished parts in areas with tight tolerances
Basic shop math skills and the ability to work in imperial measurements
Ability to sit or stand for up to four (4) hours at a time, ability to squat, bend, and reach
