Paisley Park, located in Chanhassen, MN is seeking a Operations Director for management of the day-to-day operations of Paisley Park and oversight of strategic initiatives.

Paisley Park is an active museum, state-of-the-art recording studio and concert venue. For nearly 30 years, the facility served as Prince’s home, creative sanctuary and production complex. Fulfilling Prince’s vision that Paisley Park would one day be open to the public, the venue today welcomes fans, musicians and audiophiles for tours, concerts, festivals and special events.

When Prince wrote the song “Paisley Park,” he envisioned a place of love and peace, where there aren’t any rules or limitations for creativity. The lyrics became a reality when Paisley Park opened its doors in 1987. Since then, it has inspired respect, ideas, connection, community, and spirituality and furthered Prince’s legacy of creative freedom.

Paisley Park now draws people from around the world to attend tours, concerts, and events, and feel the love, awe, and wonder that are expressed in Prince’s emotional words: “Paisley Park is in your heart.”

Salary Range$75,000 - $95,000

Responsibilities
  • Working closely with the Executive Director, manage and lead the overall operations of the facility, including the following departments: Tour Operations, Retail & Ticketing, Sales & Marketing, Food & Beverage, Archives, Maintenance, Safety and Security.

  • Keeping the Executive Director informed of current and future operational issues including financial management, critical staffing, human resources, archive preservation, and building maintenance.

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to plan, develop and deliver a comprehensive, coordinated, diverse, inclusive, one-of-a-kind experience featuring both traditional and innovative exhibition experiences for diverse audiences.

  • Regularly assess staff performance and the individual department’s progress in meeting short-term and long-range objectives.

  • Assess all revenue and expense items to ensure maximum profitability.

  • Assist with preparation of department labor and expense budgets.

  • Meet with executive and leadership teams to discuss and resolve budgetary issues, review projects and programs, establish or redirect priorities, review policies and procedures and implement improvements.

  • Implement improved processes to generate best possible workflow.

  • Actively seek and execute cost saving measures and watch for the most efficient use of labor.

  • Monitor the maintenance of building, facilities, equipment, and supplies in order to minimize damage, reduce waste and control costs.

  • Ensure guest experience is exceptional and memorable.

  • Oversee administration of contracts and invoices for external consultants and suppliers.

  • Supervise human resources and employee relation matters.

  • Ensures company and departmental policies and procedures are followed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of best practices and benchmarks in the cultural attraction, museum or public experience fields.

  • Expertise in budget development and management, project management, and personnel management.

  • Experience in the principles of marketing and public relations, exhibition development and public presentation for cultural attractions.

  • The ability to motivate, mentor, and retain talented staff and delegate and empower colleagues while creating a positive and effective work environment.

  • A strong work ethic and proficiency at prioritizing, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple priorities while exceeding expectations.

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, planning, organizational, and decision-making skills.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, problem-solving and time management skills.

  • Organized, with excellent attention to detail.

  • Able to quickly learn new information and act proactively in furtherance of organizational goals.

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.

WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in cultural attractions, museums or related public experience in venues or attractions; at least three of these at a senior management level.

  • Prior experience working with elite brands in media or cultural attractions preferred.

  • A Bachelor’s degree required.

  • An M.B.A. or other advanced degree preferred.
