Full-time Photographer

Wright is seeking a full-time studio photographer to join our team to shoot for our award winning catalogs and websites. Experienced candidates should have practice shooting product – furniture, objects and fine art. Qualified candidates will have experience using medium format digital camera systems, knowledge of studio lighting, and experience shooting for print and web. Photography and post-production excellence is a core value at Wright. Our team works closely together to bring vintage design, fine art, jewelry & watches and luxury goods to market weekly via three websites: wright20.com (Chicago, IL), ragoarts.com (Lambertville, NJ) & lamodern.com (Los Angeles, CA). Reporting directly to the creative director, you will photograph the material to align with presentation standards and collaborate to develop lighting & set treatments for special projects. Candidates should possess the technical skills listed below, and the ability to think creatively about how to present each object. Excellent communication and organizational skills are a necessity for adapting to a fast-paced, high-volume (30+ product shots a day during peak times), deadline-driven work environment. The ability to adhere to established specifications and workflow processes in detail to maintain consistency, quality and efficiency is paramount.

All photography is produced and art directed in-house – the creative team includes photographers, retouchers and graphic designers. Wright employees collaborate across departments & locations, working closely together to support the company leading up to and during exhibitions & auctions. The Wright, Rago, & LA Modern brands place significant value on the representation of our material through photography, and the quality of our final images—talented photographers are vital and valued team members. The working environment in our west loop gallery is filled with iconic 20th century design and fine art—it is fast-paced but most notably, creatively driven each step of the way.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

  • Photographing furniture and fine art for our auction catalogs, websites and other promotional materials

  • Oversee studio organization and inventory, maintain camera and lighting equipment, purchase equipment as needed

  • Keep a schedule and plan to keep photo shoot on deadline

  • Assist in maintaining a working record of all lighting sets & technical processes

  • Collaborate with the Property Department to meet staffing needs in the studio

Requirements

Experience required:

  • At least 3 years of professional photography practice

  • Proficiency using Phase One digital camera systems

  • Proficiency using Capture One Software

  • Knowledge of studio lighting for various sized subjects

  • Working Knowledge of Profoto lighting equipment

  • Photoshop and Bridge; familiarity with retouching processes for print and web

  • Experience working in a high-volume studio environment

  • Organized and capable of managing a high volume of image files

  • Capable of lifting 50 pounds

Bonus:

  • Prior knowledge/interest in 20th century design

  • Experience photographing jewelry & watches

  • Experience photographing luxury furnishings/interiors

  • Film production, lighting & editing

  • Phase One Certified Professional
