Kurian & Co. / Frame & Display is a full-service manufacturer of custom-made picture frames and exhibition display furniture. We specialize in creative problem-solving working with our clients to provide the best possible frames and displays for their artwork and ephemera. We
are looking to add new members to our team of accomplished crafts people. The ideal candidate would have a background or interest in art with an attention to detail and be motivated to learn new skills. We are looking to hire apprentices for the wood shop, finishing
shop and fitting room. Candidates would learn new skills in each area to see which department is the right fit with the position progressing into full time employment in that department.
We are looking to hire part to full-time for this position. Pay would start at $16.00 per hour and increase with experience. We offer a creative, lively, positive work environment. The shop is located in southwest Yonkers, a ten-minute walk from Metro North and close to the Saw Mill River Parkway.
COVID-19 Guidelines: Please note that we are continuing to require employees and clients to wear face coverings. Additionally, this position requires working in-person and cannot be performed remotely.
Responsibilities
Work under one of our experienced craft people to complete tasks culminating in finished frames.
Being comfortable with using basic power and hand tools is helpful
Being familiar with measuring tools and fractions of an inch is helpful
Requirements
Must be able to learn quickly in a production environment.
Must have a strong attention to detail.
Must be a hardworking and self-motivated individual.
Must be willing to help with daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping and taking out the trash.
Must be able to help with shop upkeep
Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple work tasks.
Basic math skills are required.
Must be a good communicator, be comfortable reaching out with questions, issues, and suggestions as they arise
-Must be able to lift 50-75 lbs
