Anicka Yi Studio is seeking a Production Lead to join our team immediately. The Production Lead will oversee both in-house and out-of-house fabrication projects, from the initial creative phase through installation by coordinating between artist, studio staff, vendors, and outside fabricators to successfully execute sculpture production according to time-sensitive milestones and deadlines. The Production Lead must be detail oriented and creatively minded, with a strong sense of organization, communication, and time management. Depending on the project, the Production Lead may be responsible for 3D modeling and drafting of shop drawings, with support from the Director of Design. Candidates should have a passion for making and materials, as well as extensive experience with techniques used in sculptural fabrication, including mold making, basic carpentry, metalworking, and finishing.

Responsibilities
  • Offer creative input on new artworks, as well as material R&D

  • Oversee and support assembly and finishing of artworks

  • Restructure and streamline existing production for gallery exhibitions, art fairs, commissions, editions, etc.

  • Delegate tasks between Production Assistants and outside fabricators/vendors

  • Collaborate with Director of Design to realize creative direction on new artworks

  • Oversee general shop organization and upkeep

Requirements
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Architecture, or related field, Master’s preferred

  • 4–7 years of experience in sculpture fabrication, custom fabrication, or similar occupation

  • Demonstrated creative leadership qualities and prior experience leading teams (proficient communication skills, ability to delegate tasks, manage time, and meet deadlines, etc.)

  • Ability to create, as well as read and understand construction and shop drawings

  • Advanced proficiency in Rhino 3D or other CAD software preferred

  • Knowledge of shop math and ability to work with shop tools (general carpentry, cutting, grinding, polishing, welding, etc.)

  • Flexible mold making skills (platinum silicones, urethane resin)

  • Finishing skills (filling, sanding, priming, painting)

  • General knowledge and appreciation of contemporary art

  • General art handling and installation experience

  • Ability to operate CNC Machines and 3D printers preferred

  • Experimental attitude and experience with unconventional material R&D highly preferred
