The Production Printer works with the team of professional printers in a collaborative environment with the supervision and direction of the Studio Manager. The highly skilled printers at Graphicstudio research techniques and develop projects with visiting artists working in residence at Graphicstudio. The Production Printer must possess a broad knowledge of materials and print making processes. Graphicstudio serves the academic mission of the College of The Arts and the Production Printer will participate in teaching, demonstrations and supervision of students including providing independent study opportunities and offering workshops and demonstrations on materials and processes. The Production Printer will share responsibilities for studio and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the research and collaborative process with artists and other production staff to discover best methods to realize projects.

  • Apply various printmaking techniques in the development and production of editioned projects.

  • Research new materials, techniques, and suppliers that can be utilized in the development and production of projects.

  • Engage with faculty in the School of Art and Art History to serve student interests in printmaking.

  • Monitor outside contracted projects as needed.

  • Provide demonstrations for classes and guests from the community as needed.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in studio art practice or professional experience equivalent

  • Knowledge of contemporary art with emphasis on historic and contemporary printmaking practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • A portfolio of successful print editions.

  • Experience with traditional as well as digital printmaking processes. Strong communication skills are required.

  • Experience working as part of a research/production team with artists, faculty, staff and students, and other arts and industry professionals.
