Trueing is a boutique lighting design studio based in Long Island City, NY, with a focus on beautifully constructed hand-built fixtures. We are a close-knit and growing company looking for a stellar Production & Studio Assistant to join our team. This position would be perfect for someone who is good with their hands, has a strong eye for detail, and is interested in learning about running a small craft-based practice. This is a full-time, salaried position with the opportunity to grow with the business as we expand.
Position Level: Entry Level
Position Type: Full Time Permanent
Salary: $45,000 per annum
Benefits: 100% health, dental, and vision insurance coverage; 15 vacation days, 3 sick days, 2 personal days, 3 summer Fridays, 4 holidays, and a winter break between December 25 - January 1
Duties Include:
Performing part inventory
Quality control of incoming parts
Shop organization and office tidying
Assisting with shipping, receiving, and packing
Pre-assembly processing
Cutting wire, applying labels
Assembling and managing sample kits
Please note: Occasionally, the Production & Studio Assistant may be asked to lift and move heavy boxes (up to 50 lbs) as part of their responsibilities
Desired Experience:
Experience working with your hands is a must — this can be anything from wood to clay or metal — but it is essential that applicants understand the mechanics of fabrication and the importance of their role in creating a flawless final product. Experience in lighting is a plus, but not essential. This is an entry-level position and employees will be trained in the specificities of our process.
