Reporting to the Associate Director of Programs, the Program and Communications Manager is responsible for managing NEW INC’s Professional Development program and communicating the details of our program. Our values-centered PD program is designed for artists and designers establishing or growing their professional studios, or founders who are launching a new creative venture. Over the course of a 12-month period, September-August, we provide our incubator members with a series of workshops and learning opportunities that helps them to establish their identity, values, and goals, and to learn the business fundamentals essential to managing and growing a sustainable business. Through your efforts, our diverse member community will feel supported and informed, and will leave NEW INC better prepared to drive a resilient creative practice.

Note: NEW INC’s core PD program has been hosted on Zoom since March 2020, and going into our next program year (beginning Sept 2021) we are likely to continue to deliver our program virtually, though we anticipate being back in our shared workspace beginning Fall 2021.

This is a full-time position with regular working hours of 40hrs per week, Monday to Friday, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for special events. This position is a union-represented position subject to terms of the Museum’s agreement with Local 2110, UAW, and is eligible for the New Museum’s employee benefits programs.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Programs:

  • Manage and produce our members-only professional development program, special Track and partner program activities ranging in size and scope from small group workshops to private events with audiences of as many as 200 people.

  • Manage all tasks related to event production. Tasks can include: Creating Zoom registration pages, creating and overseeing program run-of-show agendas, preparing presentation materials, managing RSVPs, ordering supplies, ordering catering, booking spaces, coordinating travel, etc.

  • Manage all aspects of program planning and delivery, including engaging workshop leaders and working with them to present workshop curriculum and materials, scheduling their participation in our program, managing ongoing relationships with them, contracts, invoicing, handling follow-ups, etc.

  • Manage communications related to the NEW INC program including copywriting and editing with engagement metrics guiding your efforts, managing our email lists, designing and managing community mailers sent via Mailchimp, drafting and posting social media content related to our program and member activities.

  • Support team in data collection related to ensuring program success and funding.

Requirements

You have…

  • 5-6 years relevant professional experience

  • Excellent communication skills, and are an experienced copywriter / editor

  • Experience with event production

  • Experience creating content for social media

  • Fluency in Zoom, Mailchimp, Squarespace, and G Suite is essential.

  • Familiarity with Asana (or comparable project management software) is highly desirable

  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects while simultaneously interfacing with our member community

  • Previous experience working with a comparable community of creative practitioners

  • Can lift at least 25 lbs and are comfortable with occasional physical labor
