OVERVIEW/MISSION
The newly-launched Foreland campus, which includes 31 artist studios, three large contemporary galleries, cooperative workspace, food & beverage programs, and special events, is looking to hire an experienced arts and culture Program Director to join our burgeoning campus.
Foreland, situated 100 miles north of NYC at the base of the Catskill Mountains, is an 85,000SF arts development focused on beautiful and economically stable workspaces for artists, and cutting-edge galleries for contemporary art programs. Our campus is spread among three historic buildings, each of which was lovingly restored and renovated by artist Stef Halmos (Foreland’s Executive Director).
POSITION/ROLE
The Program Director is responsible for contributing to the delivery
of Foreland’s cultural vision and mission through the development, oversight, and implementation of the happenings at Foreland in close collaboration with the Executive Director. The Program Director is an integral part of a team that provides a new environment for artists and a broad spectrum of tenants and dealers who themselves are prolific and steadfast in the growth of their careers, programs, and practices.
Foreland is seeking a Program Director who is a natural leader with serious experience in arts administration. Our team is looking for a thoughtful, good-humored, and refined perspective in all the programmatic aspects of Foreland including exhibition programming, fellowships, events, public contributions, and tenant experience.
The Program Director will report to the Executive Director of Foreland and will support and collaborate with several staff members at Foreland, including our interns, assistants, and Campus Foreman.
The ideal Program Director is passionate about doing things differently. If you are a convivial, accountable, people-loving, far-out thinker who likes to grow their roots deep, you’re for us. The ideal candidate enjoys organizing and being accountable to others, works well with all kinds of folks (artists, art dealers, construction workers, producers, plumbers, you name it!), and perhaps describes themselves as having moxie.
