About NEW INC:

NEW INC is an interdisciplinary program of the New Museum that brings together 100 creative practitioners and entrepreneurs annually from a wide variety of fields across art, design, and technology, promoting an environment of collaboration. The initiative is considered a global model for a cultural incubator and colleagues and alumni have hailed it as groundbreaking, transformative, and socially impactful. Role Summary:

Reporting to the Associate Director, the Program Manager is responsible for managing NEW INC’s Professional Development program and communicating the details of our program activities to our members. Our values-centered Professional Development program is designed for artists and designers establishing or growing their professional studios, or founders who are launching a new creative venture. Over the course of an 11-month period, September-July, we provide our incubator members with a series of workshops and learning opportunities that helps them to establish their identity, values, and goals, and to learn the fundamentals essential to managing and growing a sustainable practice, studio, or business. Through your efforts, our rich member community will feel supported and informed and will leave NEW INC better prepared to drive a resilient creative practice.

NEW INC’s core Professional Development program has been hosted virtually since March 2020, and going into our next program year (beginning Sept 2022) we are aiming to deliver a hybrid program that allows for in-person participation. We’ve moved into a temporary space that allows for some hybrid conferencing and activities.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

â—ŹManage all aspects of our Professional Development planning and delivery, which includes:

â—‹Working with NEW INC leadership to design a program arc for members

â—‹Engaging workshop leaders and working with them to present workshop curriculum and materials. Communicate NEW INC priorities and mission to workshop leaders and other participants.

○Scheduling workshop leaders’ participation in our program and managing ongoing relationships with them

â—‹Handle the contracts and invoicing for workshop leaders

○NEW INC’s Professional Development Program is comprised of

CAMP, NEW INC’s weeklong orientation program for new members

Working Groups: Semester-long skill building offerings

Intensives: Day-long, member responsive programming addressing timely topics

Demo Day: A multi-format festival presenting the work of NEW INC members. Program Manager leads the coaching and preparation program for artists.

â—ŹManage all tasks related to Professional Development production. Tasks can include: Creating Zoom registration pages, creating and overseeing program run-of-show agendas, preparing presentation materials, managing RSVPs, ordering supplies, booking spaces, coordinating travel, etc.

â—ŹWith support from the Program Coordinator, manage communications related to the Professional Development program including designing and managing weekly mailers sent via Mailchimp to the NEW INC cohort.

â—ŹIn coordination with the Community Manager, develop a plan for evaluating our annual program year by collecting key data and feedback from the NEW INC cohort. Create an annual assessment so we can strengthen our offerings.

Requirements

This is a full-time position with regular working hours of 40hrs per week, Monday to Friday, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for special events. This position is a union-represented position subject to terms of the Museum’s agreement with Local 2110, UAW, and is eligible for the New Museum’s employee benefits programs.

Qualifications and Skills:

â—ŹHas 3-5 years of relevant professional experience as a program designer and/or administrator

â—ŹExcellent communication skills, and are an experienced copywriter/editor

â—ŹExperience with virtual and hybrid event production

â—ŹFluency in Zoom, Mailchimp, Squarespace, and G Suite is essential

â—ŹFamiliarity with Asana (or comparable project management software) is highly desirable

â—ŹExceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects while simultaneously interfacing with our member community

â—ŹPrevious experience working with a comparable community of creative practitioners and understands what needs or challenges these practitioners might have

â—ŹA curious learner who is eager to find and share new models and connect the dots between people and ideas

â—ŹComfortable and confident in taking autonomous ownership over tasks within your purview and are always anticipating the next move, striving to improve systems and processes at every turn.
