We are looking for a dynamic Programme Lead for Design to join our Growth and Innovation team at Design Council. Design Council is the Government’s advisor on design and is unique in combining service design, business innovation and architecture & the built environment, and doing grassroots project which influence Government policy. This role within Growth & Innovation will use best practice and create next practice design to drive social innovation within the public, third and private sector.

Responsibilities

You will manage the quality and creative content of design within our Growth and Innovation programmes – ensuring our they reflect the best in contemporary practice and push new design practice, particularly around systemic design, design for climate action and design for AI. You will manage a network of around 50 highly talented Design Associates from diverse design backgrounds, and part of this role is to create a vibrant community which can learn from each other share annd continue to evolve practice. You will also be contribute to business development with key strategic partners which reflect our new strategy for 2020 especially in areas such as Health and Wellbeing, Sustainable Living and Design Skills, as well as playing a pivotal role in forming responses to bids and tenders.

Requirements

You have a background in strategic design with proven track-record of working with a wide range of clients who may not be familiar with design across the public and private sectors. Our work puts people and planet at the heart of everything we do and you will be used to designing strategies and methodologies that work to meet people’s needs and aspirations, as well as demonstrating the collective benefit of society.

You will enjoy leading and working in multidisciplinary teams including researchers, data scientists, designers, coaches and communication specialists and be able to use your knowledge and experience to build capabilities of the organisations we work with to boost their ability to use design. Our work has an integrated approach: we are unique in combining public service design, business & social innovation and architecture and built environment, taking a place-based approach to tackling inequality. So being open to borrowing ideas from across multiple disciplines is an advantage!

Salary:

ÂŁ45,000
