Martos Gallery/Shoot the Lobster is seeking an experienced full-time Registrar & Gallery Manager. This is a full-time, permanent position and is available immediately upon hire.
Applicants must possess strong administrative, organizational and professional communication skills. The position requires an individual experienced in art handling and shipping procedures as well as a strong knowledge in contemporary art. Working closely with the Owner and Director, the Registrar & Gallery Manager will be responsible for the maintenance of the gallery inventory and gallery space and will oversee day-to-day operations.
Coordinate domestic and international incoming/outgoing shipments including crating, packing, storage, and shipping receipts both on and offsite
Execute and follow through with consignment agreements and loans
Coordinate the delivery and installation of acquired works with clients
Manage all supplies, vendors and art handlers for exhibitions at Martos Gallery and Shoot the Lobster
Manage gallery inventory database and records
Manage and follow through with all invoices, payments, bills, and accounting
Generate expense reports for projects and exhibitions
Collaborate with gallery staff in applying to and preparing for art fairs
May be called on to assist Director and Owner with special projects
BA in art history, studio arts or related field
At least 2 years full-time experience working in an art gallery, museum or like institution, specifically with registrar duties and/or gallery management
Experience with international shipping and related documents
Proficient with Mac OS, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, artwork databases (ArtBase, Artlogic, Nil, etc.)
