Marian Goodman Gallery seeks a Registrar for its New York Gallery. The ideal candidate will have a BA in Studio Arts, Art History, or Arts Administration. Strong organizational skills, thorough knowledge of registration practices is required.

Responsibilities
  • Incoming & outgoing loans and consignments: draft, track, and maintain appropriate forms

  • Obtain shipping/crating quotes

  • Coordinate both domestic and international shipping arrangements

  • Inspect all incoming & outgoing inventory at gallery (art fairs, exhibitions, sales, loans)

  • Collaborate with Collection Manager to ensure proper condition reporting and documentation

  • Communicate with clients and institutions regarding installations, framing, and insurance

  • Confirm artwork/frame dimensions and photo documentation is accurate & ensure all artwork is properly labeled with accurate data

  • Work with Head Registrar in maintaining inventory records and tracking locations

  • Special projects as needed

Requirements
  • BA (Studio Arts, Art History, or Arts Administration preferred)

  • 3+ years experience in a gallery, museum, or arts institution

  • Experience with domestic and international fine art shipping and logistics

  • Understanding of customs and tax regulations for international shipping, NYS and US sales tax requirements

  • Adept at prioritizing assignments with perpetually changing importance

  • Familiarity with various artwork mediums & conservation techniques a plus

  • Comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced work environment

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Position hours are Monday-Friday, 10am to 6pm with additional hours occasionally for openings and events. Salary is commensurate with experience.
