Susan Sheehan Gallery seeks a registrar for an established gallery dealing primarily in post-war American fine art prints. The ideal candidate will possess a BA or higher preferably in art history or collections management, and possess experience in a registrarial or arts administrative position. Superior organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, the capacity to carefully manage projects and meet deadlines, and a knowledge of cataloguing, databases, online art platforms, and fine art shipping are required. Precise attention to detail and effective communication skills are necessary to the position.
Arrange domestic and international shipments to clients, track all shipments, and follow up with clients and shipping companies
Work closely with our art handler to properly store and pack artworks
Update all inventory records in the database system
Maintain detailed records for shipping, receiving, and consignments.
Draft and oversee consignment agreements. Compile, process, and manage records of all associated shipping paperwork
Conduct annual inventory count
Update all inventory records in the database system
Various administrative tasks as they arise
BA or higher (art history or related field preferred)
Experience in a museum, gallery, or art institution
Experience with domestic and international fine art shipping and logistics
Familiarity with databases, online art platforms, and contracts, including consignment agreements
Must be extremely detail-oriented, prioritize, and able to work on multiple projects at once
Ability to work under pressure and within a small team
Position hours are Monday-Friday, 10am to 6pm, with additional hours needed during art fairs occurring approximately four times a year.
