Miguel Abreu Gallery is seeking a Sales Director and Artist Liaison to work in close collaboration with the gallery’s principals on sales, developing exhibitions and strategic initiatives. This is a leadership position requiring a minimum of five years of professional experience in the international art world. The ideal candidate will have proven management capabilities, possess strong communication and writing skills, and have the ability to work productively in a fast-paced environment. Candidate will have a thorough knowledge of art history and an interest in critical theory.

Responsibilities
  • Maintaining existing and cultivating new client relationships.

  • Developing and executing gallery exhibition, institutional, art fair, and secondary market sales, from preparing and sending previews to invoicing.

  • Liaising with a number of the gallery’s established and emerging artists. Duties include overseeing production and inventory, pursuing exhibition opportunities and nurturing curator relations, as well as managing the artists’ projects, both at the gallery and elsewhere.

  • Planning for and traveling to six domestic and international art fairs per year, as well as representing the gallery at openings, lectures, and related events.

Requirements
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and social skills, and the ability to forge positive relationships with the members of the gallery team.

  • Possess the ability to clearly articulate the key conceptual, historical, and material underpinnings of the artists’ practices.

  • Work well independently, be self-directed and flexible, with a keen understanding of the ever-evolving demands of the contemporary art gallery.

  • Proficient with Mac computers, Artlogic inventory database, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite. SketchUp a plus.

  • Fluency in additional languages preferred.
