Galerie Neu is looking for a full-time, experienced sales director who will actively engage in selling artworks and cultivate relationships with clients on an international level. The position includes overseeing the smooth and efficient operation of the gallery.
Plan and implement sales strategies including art fairs participation and collector outreach
Maintaining existing and cultivating new client relationships
Developing and executing gallery exhibition, institutional, and art fair sales, from preparing and sending previews to invoicing
Communicate consistently and proactively within the team to review offers, sales, and sales opportunities
Attend gallery openings, art fairs, and other events on behalf of the gallery
Inform clients of upcoming exhibitions and fair presentations, providing supporting materials as needed
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the gallery artists’ work and communicate this effectively to clients
Overseeing gallery maintenance (exhibition space and office, including IT and telephone systems, staff plans, etc.)
Extensive sales experience in a contemporary art gallery
Written and spoken fluency in German and English, other foreign languages are a plus
Broad and in-depth knowledge of contemporary art and art market
Sensibility to the aims and visions of Galerie Neu
Ability to support team members and artists in all areas of production, exhibition and promotion of artwork
High degree of motivation, initiative and responsibility, paired with excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to perform under pressure, flexibility and availability to travel
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with high level of enthusiasm
Proficiency with Mac operating systems, Microsoft suite, Adobe - Photoshop and InDesign
Experience of managing a database system such as Artbutler
