The position offers 25 hours/week to start with a salary range of $19-$21/hr., depending on experience. Additionally, Zygote offers prorated benefits, including paid time off, a health expense stipend, and full working privileges in our studio and gallery. The right candidate will also have growth opportunities within the organization.
Mission Statement: Zygote Press is an established, nonprofit community printmaking studio, gallery, archive, and education center that supports artists through residency programs, studio access, and artistic development in a collaborative environment open to all.
Work both independently and in collaboration with other staff to oversee the day-to-day operation, upkeep and inventory
Coordinate Shop Artist invoices in Square
Manage Shop Schedule and Open Studio Schedule
Manage Shop Artist Agreements
Manage door codes/Studio Access
Manage locker assignments
Schedule, train, manage, and oversee a team of interns to ensure safety protocols and professional standards in studios.
Assist with outreach events and workshops
Research and Develop ‘Green’ Practices
Serve as Safety Officer, update Safety Data Sheets, HAZCOM Plan, and Handbook
Conduct annual safety training
Instruct artists and interns on the proper and safe use of specialized equipment and materials.
Identify hazards and necessary Personal Protective Equipment
Conduct Studio Orientations
Work with Shop Tech to clean, sanitize the studios, purchase and receive all shop equipment and supplies.
Work with Shop Tech to maintain and repair printmaking equipment and facilities
Work with contractors when necessary
Manage Teaching Artists and One on One requests
Work with the Facilities Committee to improve the studios
Ensure artists of various backgrounds and experiences can be productive in a shared space
Provide marketing materials to the social media coordinator
Work with Zygote’s Programming and Facilities Committees
Work with Artists in Residence to make their time at Zygote productive
Coordinate Residency Programs
MFA and/or equivalent professional training and experience
Minimum of two years of demonstrated expertise working in print studios
Demonstrated intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of and skills in multiple printing processes and green printmaking alternatives
Demonstrated active printmaking practice with breadth of experience across processes including, but not limited to: screen printing, letterpress, intaglio, relief, lithography, monoprint, digital
Press maintenance and studio safety experience
Demonstrated analytical, organizational, communication, project and time management skills and the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously
Workshop teaching experience for children and adults
