We are seeking a dedicated specialist in photographs to join our Artnet Auctions team. In this role, you will be responsible for building consignor relationships, obtaining artworks, and growing our network of buyers to expand the reach of our platform, while ensuring a best in class client experience. You will contribute to the success of the platform by growing revenue and driving sales. 

Responsibilities
  • Drive quality and performance of sales

  • Consign and sell works while building key relationships with clients

  • Conduct best practices when pricing, negotiating, and reaching out to clients

  • Research and catalog lots for upcoming curated auctions

  • Stay abreast of current markets, key players, and competitors while developing a competitive department strategy

  • Review sales results for new areas of opportunity to grow the business

  • Manage the successful completion and close of private sales

Build client base and relationships

  • Act as a representative of Artnet and build alliances and networks of key influencers in the market

  • Develop and nurture clients to convert buyers and sellers, focus on growth, retain clients, and build loyalty

Maximize cross-functional partnerships

  • Work collaboratively with other internal departments to identify and develop cross-selling opportunities

  • Cultivate a positive, motivated, and results-driven team atmosphere

  • Participate in strategy and implementation of marketing activities to drive successful sales

Requirements
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in the photography market as an auctions specialist and/or business driver

  • BA in art history, art management, or similar, graduate degree a plus

  • Proven ability to initiate new business while maintaining existing client relationships

  • Knowledge of e-commerce platforms and online art sales

  • Must be able to meet revenue target with growth on a yearly basis

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and networking skills

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, revenue-driven environment

  • Strong sense of professionalism and discretion

  • Self-starter with the capacity to work in a team environment
