Los Angeles based Artist and Filmmaker seeks part-time highly skilled, motivated and enthusiastic Studio Associate to manage their studio.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in art history, museum studies, photography, English literature, marketing, communications. Must have a thorough understanding of the contemporary art world. Will consider a candidate without a bachelor degree if you offer something unique and undeniable.

Role: The Studio Associate will work closely with the Studio Director to oversee daily studio needs and projects. The ideal candidate is an organized and creative problem solver who can multitask and get the job done with efficiency and strategic thinking in a fast paced environment. This is not for the faint of heart. Background in art history, photography or film is a plus. Past gallery, artist studio, museum, production office experience is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Minimum 3 years of Art administration/gallery experience. Will consider other experience if it contributes in an unusually valuable way.
Main objective to oversee and maintain artist’s studio based in Silver Lake, LA.
Confidently and effortlessly able to liaise with galleries, curators, collectors, vendors, business managers and others.
Oversee all office related maintenance and upkeep.
Must be able to manage Artbase, artist’s archive, website, web shop, press and relevant assets.
Responsible for all web shop order fulfillment & shipping.
Will be responsible for booking all travel for the artist, studio director and artist’s personal and family travel.
Exceptional at organizing and proactively taking charge.
At times high energy, fast-paced working style with impeccable attention to detail.
Well accustomed to operating under deadlines.
Structured and efficient, strong proficiency in communication over a variety of formats.
Tech savvy, computer skills and social media familiarity is a must
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) as well as Keynote.
Proficient with Adobe Suite (specifically InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere) and Squarespace.
Creative responsibilities include graphic design, video editing, social media & marketing.
Increase efficiency of operations - providing an extra set of hands whether the project is big or small.
The position requires an arts administration background.
Must be based in Los Angeles and a personal vehicle required.
Must be able to legally work as an employee in U.S. and at the location in the Silver Lake area.
This is not a remote position or for someone who wants to work from their home.
Assist with administrative tasks including invoicing, shipping, sales reports and print orders.
Provide general administrative and creative support to management.
Position Requirements:
Proactive self-starter and problem solver.
Excellent multitasking and time management skills while being detail oriented.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and professionalism.
Great project management skills and the ability to stay calm in fast-paced and ambiguous situations.
Graphic design, social media marketing and video editing is a plus.
A team player who can also work independently.
Essential to have a no task is too small attitude.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word and Excel), Google Suite (Docs, Sheets), ArtBase (or similar database), Adobe suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere) Mailchimp, Squarespace and sketch-up preferred.
Qualifications: 2 - 3 + years working in a gallery, museum, production company or artist studio, film or photography. Past office experience and management is preferred. Will consider other experience if it’s undeniably valuable to the studio.
