Artist’s studio based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn seeks a highly organized and self-motivated Studio Manager who can handle a range of tasks from oversight of day-to-day operations to participation in creative projects.
Applicant must possess excellent communication skills in both writing and in dealings with museums and galleries and be able to meet deadlines under pressure. Attention to detail and excellent time-management skills are required. A background in photography or video is a plus. One to two years’ experience working in an artist’s studio or comparable environment is expected.
Responsibilities
Manage daily operations and correspondence
Collaborate with studio members on current projects
Liaise with museums, galleries, video distributors, and other institutions
Assist with creative projects such as books, essays, commissions, and exhibitions
Manage and coordinate exhibition loans; oversee artwork pickup, often in conjunction with galleries; and manage storage facilities
Perform or assist in project research as needed, or supervise the research of other studio members
Manage and maintain the inventory of print archive and archive database, in cooperation with archivist/s
Keep track of exhibitions, lectures, and inventories
Oversee image and text requests
Update and maintain the artist’s calendar and studio calendar
Coordinate and manage intern projects
Organize travel arrangements
Handle invoicing and billing, often in conjunction with galleries and distributors
Keep track of and prepare payment for artists’ and studio bills
Requirements
Background in art and art history and familiarity with photography and moving-image work are strongly suggested
Must be practiced in Mac OSX, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Adobe Creative Cloud
Must be willing to work occasional additional hours for urgent deadlines, or manage the work of others
Minimum 2-3 year commitment is required
