Major duties will include assisting the Theatre Department Technical Director and Production Manager in construction, painting and installation of scenic, lighting, sound, and video elements for the Department’s curricular productions. The TTS will also assist with supervision of student crews in Barnard’s production spaces. Applicants should have at least three years of experience in professional theatrical production, with demonstrated proficiency in theatrical scenery construction, painting and rigging, theatrical lighting work including hang and focus of lighting instruments, and sound and video equipment setup and troubleshooting. The TTS will work at all times in a manner conducive to safe working procedures and conditions, and must be capable of instructing students in same.

Theatrical scenery construction, rigging, and painting; scenery, lighting, sound and video installation; supervising student crews; maintaining workplace safety.

Requirements
  • Competence in theatrical scenery construction, painting and rigging, scenic art, theatrical lighting hang and focus techniques, and/or sound and video equipment setup and troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualification Summary

  • BA or equivalent degree in technical theatre production

Physical Demands Summary

  • Must be comfortable working at heights (ladders, genie lifts, and scaffolding), be able to lift 50lbs, and be able to stand on feet for long periods of time.
